Let's celebrate – that means reviewing!

Well hello there! I did mention something about my blog's six-month anniversary coming up, didn't I? Actually, that day was yesterday – I didn't have time to blog then, but no worries, I have something special for today. If you read my Announcement post a few weeks ago, you'll know what it is: Yes, dear readers, I'm kindly asking you to consider all the (hopefully numerous) times you've visited my blog and to review Music & My Mind! It won't take you an awful lot of time because I've prepared some questions for you, and you can post your review whenever you like – if you're reading this a year from now, you're still welcome to participate! And it doesn't matter if you've been commenting regularly or if you've never said anything at all, everyone's reviews are welcome! I'm only asking you to do this because I want to improve as a blogger :)

So if you just answer these questions and drop in a comment, thank you very much!

How did you find out about this blog? (You don't have to answer if I asked you for a visit myself)

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best score), how would you rate this blog's language? (Additional comments would be nice)

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best score again), how would you rate this blog's content? (Same thing about additional comments as in the previous question)

What has been the most interesting post in your opinion?

Choose three words to describe my blog.

Any suggestions what I could write about next?

Anything else you want to say?

THANK YOU!

  1. What a neat idea! I hope you get some useful stuff from it.

I have no idea how I found out about this blog. I think it might have been when you joined my Tolkien blog party, actually.

As for the blog's language... do you mean the writing style? I'd give it an 8 -- very nice, but not scintillating. I'd rate mine about the same most of the time, btw.

I'd give the content an 8 too -- I'm interested in most of your posts.

I'd say the most interesting post for me so far was your review of "A Tale of Two Cities."

Three words to describe it: New, thought-provoking, and cheerful.

Suggestions for future posts: more musical reviews! I liked your post on top favorite songs from Miss Saigon, and more like it would be nifty. Also, I love book reviews, so more of those would be cool.

    1. Thank you so much for your review! There are no less than FOUR musical reviews to come as soon as I can manage it, and definitely more book reviews as well :)

As for the question about the language: it basically means whether you find the writing comfortable to read and of good quality.

    2. Aha! Yes, I find your writing to be comfortable to read and of good quality. I don't follow blogs that are badly written (or read books that are badly written) because I end up spending more time editing them in my head than enjoying them, which is too frustrating for me.

  2. - How did you find out about this blog?
I think you left a comment at my blog and I took a look at your blog..? I guess?

    - On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best score), how would you rate this blog's language?
I can't remember ever being bothered by a single typo, and I enjoy reading your texts, so 9!

8 - I also enjoy reading your texts, I think they're interesting! I just wish you'd write more musical reviews, I'd like to hear more about your opinions about different shows and productions. :)

    - What has been the most interesting post in your opinion?
Hmm... I can't name just one, I'm afraid. I did quite like the Celebrate Musicals Week ones though!

    - Choose three words to describe my blog.
    Positive, informative, interesting.

    - Any suggestions what I could write about next?
    Musical reviews!

    - Anything else you want to say?
A cliché, but I'll still say it: keep up the good work!

  3. Thank you! I enjoyed Celebrate Musicals Week myself too, I hope it happens again next year! Musical reviews from London and Tampere are on the way :)

  4. I found your blog when you left a comment on mine. It must have been that post where I was saying that I'd actually welcome a new adaptation of Oliver :D

I think your blog is extremely well-written, especially when I consider that English isn't even your first language! I can't recall any spelling mistakes or typos. So I'd give it a 9 for your language. I love that you go into depth with your reviews. You don't write like "Oh I love this! This is really cool! blah blah blah"

I'd give your blog a 9 for content. All of the things that you write are interesting to me. I'd suggest maybe breaking your blog into index pages though. One for book reviews, one for musical reviews, etc. I started to get far more comments on my blog when I started doing that. I guess it became a lot easier for people to find things.

I'd agree with Hamlette. Your review of A Tale of Two Cities has been my favourite post so far. I also really enjoyed your reviews of Emma, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries & Oliver (1968).

    Informative, Insightful, Interesting.

Suggestions for future posts? A book review on Phantom of the Opera! I'd also mention those West End reviews but you say those are on the way. Hmm, how about some period drama adaptations? Or some TV show reviews?

    1. Thank you for taking time to review! I've been thinking that I should do the index pages thing when I get more blog posts done :) I initially wanted to write about just books, music and theatre (as the sub-heading says) but lately I've been very tempted to write about movies and TV shows too! What I CAN tell you for certain is that I'm planning a really cool post (at least in my opinion...) about a pair of Dickens-related period dramas ;)
